Mechanisms Underlying Amyloid-beta and Tau Pathologies Following Traumatic Brain Injury (PI: Brody)
The goal of the project is to elucidate the mechanisms by which experimental traumatic brain injury accelerates Alzheimer’s disease related pathologies using transgenic mouse models.

NIH/NINDS U01
2/1/14-1/31/18
“CTE and Posttraumatic Neurodegeneration: Neuropathology and Ex Vivo Imaging” (PI: A. McKee, Subproject 3 PI: Brody).
The goal of the subproject is to perform high resolution ex vivo radiological pathological correlation analyses of traumatic axonal injury using DTI in human CTE brain.

BrightFocus Foundation (PI Brody, Co-PI M. Gross)
7/1/14-6/30/17
“Purification and Characterization of Amyloid-beta Oligomers from Human Brain”
The goal of this project is to purify amyloid-beta oligomers from human brain lysates and characterize them using advanced mass spectrometry methods.

Defense Medical Research and Development Program
1/1/13-12/31/17
“Development of in vivo Biomarkers for Progressive Tau Pathology after Traumatic Brain Injury”
(D. Brody, M. Diamond Co-PIs)
The goal of the project is to develop blood and spinal fluid tests to diagnose chronic traumatic encephalopathy. These tests will be developed in mice, for future use in people.
