The 8th Annual Friedman Conference, sponsored by Washington University's Friedman Center for Aging, will address the theme "Are We Licensed for Life? Transportation and Driving Issues in an Aging Society." The Conference will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at the Eric P. Newman Education Center on the Washington University School of Medicine campus. The Friedman Conference honors University benefactors Harvey A. and Dorismae Friedman. Leaders in the field will present on themes such as driving retirement, medical conditions and their impact on driving, recent research in improving driving skills, and the assessment of key functional abilities that are important for older adults in operating a motor vehicle. The different approaches States have adopted for licensing the medically impaired and older adult driver will be discussed by panels with audience participation.
