Dr. Volshteyn is the Head of the Spinal Cord Injury Section in the NeuroRehabilitation Division of the Department of Neurology. She is aso a Clinical Director of the Amputee Rehabilitation Service at Washington University Medical Center and The Rehabilitation Institute of St. Louis.
Since 1992 Dr. Volshteyn has been the Director of the PM&R Residency Training Program at Washington University/Barnes-Jewish Hospital/SLCH Consortium.
My areas of clinical specialty include rehabilitation of spinal cord injury and multiple sclerosis patients, central pain syndromes and spasticity,as well as rehabilitation of amputee population.
I provide assessment and management of the patient who require Intrathecal Baclofen Therapy and Botulimun Toxim treatment for spasticity of brain and spinal cord origin in the setting of multidisciplinary Spasticity Clinic.
I have a strong interest in education and dedicate a substantial part of my time to teaching residents and medical students in the field of Rehabilitation Medicine.
Medical TrainingDr. Volshteyn received her medical degree in 1976, graduating from the Minsk State Medical Institute in Minsk, Belarus.
She completed residency training program in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at Jewish Hospital at the Washington University Medical Center in St. Louis in1985 and was appointed to the faculty in the department of Neurology as an assistant professor in 1992.
She is a diplomat of the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, American Board of Spinal Cord Medicine and American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine.
Dr. Volshteyn is a member of the American Board of PM&R, Association of Academic Physiatrists, International Spinal Cord Society and American Paraplegis Society.
